Zero
make-ready, minimum waste and a large flexibility
in folder options are the key features of Solna´s
new B380 bookprinting concept. Solna hs delivered
many presses to bookprinters. The advantages
have always been the flexibility to print more
than one type of product and also the print
quality. With the latest shaftless technology,
the printer can change plates in one printing
unit, while the other printing unit is in production.
The printer can switch from one unit to the
other and the press will automatically go into
sequence. The motors in the two printing units
will be syncronized and the press will make
the switch. A signal will be sent from the
press control system so that the few waste
copies can be taken out. All in all, zero make
ready, zero down time and minimum waste.
In the B380 press concept, Solna offers a
large flexibility in folding options. It starts
with the traditional former folders and continues
with different plow folding options. This means
a large flexibility in production. Solna will
custom-make the press to the product size required,
but keep the flexibility to produce more than
one product.
The B380 is a modular system
also in pagination and colour capacity. With
two printing units in a 2-high configuration,
the press can print one web 1+1 with flying
plate change or one web 2+2 without the flying
plate change. If the configuration is changed
to two 2-highs, the production can even be
expanded to two webs 1+1 with flying plate
change or two webs 2+2 without or even one
web 4+4.
