The Solna C800
is a highly sophisticated and automated, commercial
web offset press. It is designed for production
of high quality magazines, brochures, directories,
books and other commercial printing on uncoated
and coated stock for a maximum speed of 40.000
cph depending on the equipment of the press
and the produced job.
The press is equipped with a number of high-tech
features for improved flexibility and productivity.
Each perfecting unit is individually driven
(shaftless) by Rexroth Indramat servo drive
motors. The ink fountains have motorized ink
zone adjustments remotely controlled from the
operator console. The circumferential and lateral
plate registers are motorized and adjustments
are carried out remotely from the operators
console. Plate and blanket cylinders are running
without bearer contact (MultiRange System).
Fine adjustments can therefore be made to compensate
for changes of stock thicknesses without disrupting
the correct relationship between the cylinders.
A guarantee for ideal dot transfer.
The Solna C800 is designed to run with lowest
operating costs, lowest waste costs and with
a minimum of manning. The automatic plate positioning
and plate lock-up is guaranteeing shorter make
ready times and exact plate mounting while
the paper web remains in the press.
The Solna C800 is available in several press
layouts for up to twelve units per installation.
They may be placed in line, stacked or as a
duplex arrangement of parallel lines. Production
units are built for the normal left-to-right
operation, but mirror-imaged units are available
for right-to-left operation into, for instance,
a central folder in a tandem layout.
For the Solna C800 there is the following
folder concept available:
Folder
F840: a full combination jaw folder
in the ratio 1:2:2 ( with an optional double
parallel fold)
Part of the Solna C800 is also the Solna DPC
Printing Process and Control System. This is
a highly advanced system that gives total control
of both the process and print quality. The
system is open and based on the market available
standard components, which gives the possibility
to integrated equipment and systems from other
manufacturers like for instance register, colour
control systems and connection to pre-press
systems (CIP3).
The design philosophy of Solna is to base
as much as possible on standard components.
The result of this is higher availability of
spare parts, easier service and longer lifetime
of the individual parts. We work in close partnership
with the main suppliers of all the necessary
additional equipment such as: splicers, dryers,
process control systems, ink supply systems,
roll handling systems and climate control systems
in order to offer full advantage of Solnas
C800 concept and to assure a high and even
production quality.

Drive & Control
System
Drive System
The Solna C800 has a shaftless drive system
with servo drive motors of Rexroth Indramat.
Each printing unit and folder as well as
splicer, infeed unit and,chill-roll stand
are equipped with a single servo motor.
Control System
All functions of the Solna C800 are controlled
by the Solna Printing Process Control system
(PPC) and consists of the following parts
as standard:
- 2 Operating consoles DPCIII with PC computer
and software, video screen with alarm display
and sequential start/stop to run the main
press functions and the remote-controlled
ink fountains, plate registers and dampening
systems.
- 1 Press Master Console for connection
